Aimless Amusing Alliteration
This is really cool actually I’ve been meaning to post this. I’m not such a rap fan but this is kinda impressive.

so Just Decide…
That’s my favorite song by “I Fight Dragons”, a new ‘NES-Rock’ band from Chicago. I’ve been really into them recently and since they’re pretty small I feel obliged to make a post about them.
What’s really cool about this band is that they sample all of their electronics from Nintendo games. When they perform live, they map...

Album Reviews - March 2011
Rise Against – Endgame
Tim McIlrath and his band of punk rockers haven’t changed much on their 6th album, “Endgame”, but ultimately come up short. Every song on the album seems as if it has been done before and it’s actually quite easy to find a counterpart for each song on an earlier Rise Against album.
Rise Against’s song formula has not been altered whatsoever so each song pretty much...

A Day to Remember Live: Review of Sorts
The difference between a concert and a show is often unclear. When I saw Enter Shikari back in October, it was the greatest concert I’ve ever been to but it wasn’t necessarily a show (that’s not to say it wasn’t absolutely amazing and life-changing because it was). Last time I saw A Day to Remember (last April) they put on a fantastic concert but still not really a show.

Coming Up - I review shit now :)
So tomorrow I’ll post a review of A Day to Remember’s concert last night with Bring Me the Horizon, We Came as Romans and Pierce the Veil. After that I’ll start working on a review of Rise Against’s Endgame (I’ve given it a few listens through but i need a few more before I can really judge it). THEN I’ll review Protest the Hero’s Scurrilous (which I...

Coming Soon
Tons of albums coming out in the next few months, here are few I’ll try to post reviews of (along with a song that’s already been released from each of the upcoming albums):
Hollywood Undead’s New Album “American Tragedy”- Been to Hell
Rise Against’s New Album “Endgame”- Architects
Protest the Hero’s New Album ”Scurrilous”-...

Asking Alexandria- a headbanger's delight
Imagine Enter Shikari but with less techno and more hardcore.
I feel like I’ve already posted about them before but I just kind of got into them again and I can’t find my old one so whatever.

It's been a while...
I’ve just had stuff I’ve been doing, I haven’t forgotten about the 17 of ya who are following me ever so perseveringly.
I’ll get to writing stuff about music soon, I just saw Escape the Fate recently with Alesana and Get Scared which was pretty cool so maybe I’ll review that or something.
Oh and listen to this its pretty good they’re sounding more like...

No?
Well if anyone wants to, send it as a reply or somethin
I’ll do it later…

Oh, Crash Kings- they’re sort of like a piano-based Cage the Elephant. The band uses piano as most bands would a guitar, they put some distortion and effects on it and...

Happy Halloweeen, I'm going to sleep.
First things first, synthesis. Dubstep meets Halloween, both are very relevant things.
Enjoy-Halloween theme song remixed by Chrispy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1DghEk0zNo
Enter Shikari has a new song Destabilise which I posted the other day. It’s delicious and dubsteptacular you should listen to it immediately.
Now for Halloween. I watched the first Saw again today, I think it...

I think i got brain damage
LightGoBlue, Ms White, Sleeping with Sirens, Haste the Day, Enter Shikari- front row- 4 hours of my heroes screaming in my face.
A lengthly, detailed and worshipful review will be up once i can hear through at least one of my ears and i don’t have a brutal amount of schoolwork to catch up on

just realized how relevant lyrics can be
And I know that we’ve still got time
But I do not think we’re invincible
And I’m thinking that it’s a sign
Cause I do not think we’re invincible
Crushing all in its path

Ok we get it, you’re different, you’re not mainstream. You’re proud your a hipster? What do you stand for? I guess just going against the norm is what you stand for. Chill. You listen to music I’ve never heard of? You may not be “mainstream” but you still follow hipster trends. The Dr. Dogs & Of…

Miss me?
Wow, it’s been a while- lots of music to catch y’all up on. I’m going to start reviewing albums rather than just picking out the ones I recommend listening to. There have been a few pretty bad albums out recently and I’d like to start recommending what not to listen to as well.
I started listening to City and Color, Dallas Green’s acoustic folk solo project which...

Adios
New motto: I no longer believe in the existence of bad music, there exist only music that I don’t like yet.
With the right conditioning we can grow to enjoy any sort of sounds, so our musical taste is merely representative of our current state of mind. People ask me why I have so much music on my Ipod, I must not even listen to half of it. It’s true, there must be thousands of songs...

Hey, how you been
Watch as our community
Enforced by endless scrutiny
Walks calm across its path
But degrades to rot and ash
-
Our unopposed lucidity
Destroyed by creativity
A system of production
Created by destruction
-
We hover in between them
The absolutes of Eden
So retain your false composure
And sway clear of full disclosure

Paper Tongues are an up and coming band with some decent stuff and a very catchy single. The band fuses rock, rap and hip hop but remains low key, swaying from what is normally referred to as ‘rap-rock’. While the beats are simple and the melodies are undeniably catchy as they ring with the distinctive voice of lead singer Aswan.
Paper Tongues’ debut eponymous (I love that...

"I can lead a nation with a microphone"- Day 16-...
haha, remember when I was going to do one of these every day? That fully didn’t happen.
So, Flobots. I don’t actually know this band that well but I find some of their stuff interesting. They’re a hip-hop group but they also use actual instruments (what a concept!) and have a fair amount of musical talent. The group has the usual political views- ‘The government is...

Day 15- Van Canto
I’ve been meaning to do this for a while.
Van Canto is phenomenal, they change everything.
Let me explain- I love when musical genres are mixed. The more awkward the combination, the more amazing I find it when it actually ends up being good.
Van Canto is an a-capella-hero-metal band and they are phenomenal. They have been gaining popularity over the years and just released their...

Damn...
I wrote this whole review of the A Day to Remember concert in Montreal with August Burns Red, Enter Shikari and Veara full of recommendations, album reviews and links but i accidentally hit something and it deleted itself so basically you get this:
The concert was good.
Veara is mediocre and generic post-hardcore.
Moshometer rating- moshish
Enter Shikari is the greatest band in the world...

A paradox or two
My only certainty is that nothing is sure
My only taint is that I once was pure

My only doubt is in my total confidence
My only regret is that I know it was worth it
My only flaw is that I think I’m perfect

Day 14- Brokencyde
Brokencyde is the greatest band in the world, their magnificent combination of screamo and crunk music elements is simply a stroke of genius that isn’t often found in the music industry nowadays. Their debut album “I’m Not a Fan, But the Kids Like It” is a fantastic release through and through and should be listened to on repeat forever. The best part is how each of their...

So The Offspring aren’t exactly an underground band, in fact they’ve probably been one of the most influential punk bands of the last few decades. Anyways, Billy Talent was here last Wednesday and I haven’t reviewed the show yet because I’ve been tired. Also, I’ve finally recovered physically from the bruises and limps acquired at this show so I can judge it without the pain skewing my opinion.
So first up was Cancer Bats, and they let us...

Awesome underground Montreal radio
Just discovered that Montreal has a tolerable radio station that isn’t top 40 or classic rock played over and over again. Up until now my escape has been 999 the buzz (http://999thebuzz.com/) but that’s cheating because it’s based in Vermont and not Montreal- it’s mainstream alternative rock but it’s better than hearing Lady Gaga all day. Anyways, back to my...

In preparation for Billy Talent’s show at the Bell Centre next Wednesday and my recent neglecting of posting new bands, I’m going to talk about Billy T along with the handful of Canadian bands supporting them. The lineup is Cancer Bats, Alexisonfire and Against Me! (who I’ve already recommended). These bands are all very punk so if that’s not your thing beware but keep in...
